This release adds an on-device App Store, upgrades web session management and search configuration, integrates Vibe Mode 0.2.0, and improves Lua peripheral access, the Works page, and the firmware build workflow.
App installation and management
- On-device App Store: browse the catalog, view details, filter by category, install, and uninstall apps.
- Background download, file verification, and cleanup on failure; uninstall confirmation; built-in apps are protected.
- Works shows app icons, with a default placeholder when loading fails.
- Works opens Installed by default; larger category and pagination controls; improved touch interaction.
- Unified ESP-Claw Skills Hub skills for downloading app packages.
Web chat and configuration
- Persistent session management: create, switch, rename, and delete sessions, with paginated message history.
- View sessions by source; unified presentation of web, on-device, and IM channel conversations.
- Improved Markdown rendering, send status, failure retry, and reconnect experience.
- Re-read configuration after device reboot to avoid stale page state overwriting device settings.
- Bocha search support with an explicit choice of Bocha, Tavily, or Brave Search.
- Fixed cloud chat availability display.
Vibe Mode and firmware maintenance
- Vibe Mode 0.2.0 and Recovery ABI 2 for a dedicated app installation and device maintenance environment.
- New vibe console command to reboot from Claw into Vibe Mode.
- Main-app boot confirmation; build-time hash and partition compatibility checks for maintenance firmware packages.
- New update-flash command for the main app plus UI and SYSTEM assets.
- Full flash on the new partition layout preserves app NVS and Vibe Mode sysmeta data.
- ESP_MOSAICO_VIBE_MODE_BUNDLE for specifying a custom-built Vibe Mode package.
Lua and stability
- Unified board drivers and Lua hardware resource management; improved shared/exclusive access, release, and conflict handling.
- Onboard IMU reuses native sensors and the I²C bus; magnetometer, environmental sensors, and SCI access fixes.
- New hwmap command to inspect hardware resource usage.
- Lua LVGL image, line, and interaction API extensions, plus object recycle fixes.
- Improved storage queries and directory cleanup to support app install and uninstall.
- Fixed camera dynamic canvas and hidden-image shared resource view issues.
- UI asset generation moved from Bash to Python for better cross-platform builds and clearer missing-dependency hints.
Submodule updates
- esp-claw: c4d5648 → 62aaeed — session management, search, app package download, hardware resource management, and Lua module updates.
- New esp-mosaico-utils pinned at c415e03 with Vibe Mode, ESP-Iris, and tooling; default verified Vibe Mode 0.2.0 prebuilt package.
Upgrade notes
- Flash partition layout changed. When upgrading from v0.4.0, flash the full firmware image; app-flash or update-flash alone is not sufficient.
- Legacy NVS addresses changed — back up important data and record settings before upgrading. Config preservation on the new layout does not mean automatic migration from older configs.
- Before building from source, run git submodule update --init --recursive and install Python dependencies from requirements.txt.
- App Store supports install and uninstall only; in-place app updates or overwrite installs are not supported yet.
- Recovery ABI 2 is incompatible with legacy 0.1 firmware packages and tool protocols — use the matching toolchain.
